Why enterprise AI needs evidence, not only answers
A useful answer is only the beginning. Enterprise teams also need provenance, permissions, and a path back to the original file.
CogLake Research · 18 August 2026 · 7 minAnswers are not a control boundary
A generated response can sound convincing while hiding which files contributed, whether the source is current, and whether the requester should have seen it. Enterprise knowledge systems need to preserve those decisions before generation begins.
The evidence contract
CogLake treats file identity, original links, matching passages, retrieval signals, and access decisions as part of the result. People and agents can inspect the same evidence instead of relying on an opaque summary.
What changes operationally
Search becomes a reusable infrastructure capability. The browser, an internal application, a REST client, and an MCP-connected agent all cross the same authorization and provenance boundary.
